Have you experienced a power loss?
If your entire residence has lost power we recommend determining if your neighbors have also lost power and call SDG&E. If SDG&E indicates that they have no outage in the neighborhood ask for them to come out to see if the problem is on their side.
Do you have a partial outage?
Check your electrical breaker panel(s). Breakers can be tripped and not be in the off position. If your lighting has gone out then reset all of the 15-amp breakers. Turn the breakers off until they click and then move the breakers back to the on position. Do not do this rapidly. If the power loss is in the kitchen, dining-room or laundry area then turn off all of the 20-amp breakers until they click into place and then move the breakers back to the on position. If the power does not restore then we recommend calling a licensed electrical contractor.
GFI receptacle:
A GFI receptacle should be installed in areas that electricity and water can come in contact with either other. Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry-rooms, garages and exterior outlets are examples. If a GFI outlet has stopped working press the test/reset buttons. Did the GFI starting working? If not, check the breakers and reset if needed. Does the problem still persist? If yes, we recommend calling a licensed electrical contractor.
